Viewer identification and access gates
Tracklytics can associate a viewing session with a recipient-specific link or information supplied through an access gate. Identity confidence depends on the chosen gate and must not be overstated.

Identification methods
Senders can choose an access approach appropriate to the document and plan.
- Recipient-specific tracked links
- Email gate
- Password gate
- LinkedIn or SSO gate on eligible plans
- NDA or agreement gate on eligible plans
Identity confidence
An email entered into a form is a claimed identity unless separately verified. A forwarded recipient link can also create ambiguity. Stronger authentication can improve confidence but may add friction for the reader.
IP address and device context
Technical session details can help detect repeat activity and troubleshoot access. They should not be used as a reliable personal identity on their own because networks, privacy tools, and shared devices can change or obscure them.
Responsible use
Use the least intrusive gate appropriate to the content. Tell recipients how data is handled, honor applicable privacy rules, and avoid turning engagement data into unsupported claims about an individual.
Questions
Can Tracklytics identify every viewer?
No. Identity depends on link setup, gate configuration, verification, and whether a link was forwarded.
Does an IP address identify a person?
No. It is a network signal and may be shared, dynamic, proxied, or masked.
What gate should I use?
Use the lowest-friction method that still meets the document’s sensitivity and your identity requirements.
